REVIEW: Cape Mentelle - SSB (Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon) 2019
A typical Margaret River SSB style blend here and fortunate enough to have visited the vineyard in question.
This is a clear, pale lemon coloured white wine from WA. On the nose, aroma intensity of medium+ with citrus, lemon zest, lemon and lime peel, green melon and lemon blossom. A lovely construct of primary aromas for a vibrant, fresh wine.
On the palate, lime leaf, lemon zest, citrus fruit dominant with a high acidity profile as you would expect from the grape varietals, medium- body, medium alcohol and clearly a youthful wine expression.
Fully fermented to dry, with a medium to medium+ finish this packs some punch. The flavour intensity is dubbed down slightly with the semillon giving body and roundied finish - if you are looking for something to drink now and not for ageing....try this for size.
