REVIEW: Agenda da Vinha - Colheita Selecionada Tinto 2019, Dao Portugal
A clear, deep ruby red wine from Portugal. On the nose a medium to medium+ aroma intensity.
Notes of redcurrants, red cherry, vanilla, raspberries and a slight herbaceous note of blackcurrant leaf. On the palate, it is fully fermented to dry. Medium acidity, medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Alcohol level is medium. Flavour intensity of medium - slightly underwhelming given the nose.
However, the finish has longevity and comes through with a medium+ backdrop. The flavour profile of blackcurrant, red cherry, ripe blackberries and a smooth cedar wood infused backdrop lends itself to being more wow'ed but I have struggled to get too enthusiastic on the bottle as it stands now....BUT, i do see real bottle age potential for the wine and to soften those tannins further to offer a better balance.
Grape Varieties: Blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alfrocheiro Preto.
Food Pairings: It definitely lends itself for a red meat combo or a spicy vegetable dish (not curry) which can handle the body in this wine.
Avg Price: £15 roughly per bottle
Overall Rating: 86/100
